Hose For High-Pressure Gases – All-Metallic Gas Pigtails

Often known as specialty gas hose, all-metallic gas pigtails are flexible hoses with all-metallic components for use in specialty gas applications or any applications where high-purity or zero-effusion is important, such as helium and hydrogen applications. As opposed to PTFE hose pigtails, all-metallic pigtails are a welded product that will contain even the smallest molecule gases. The construction of specialty gas hose starts with a corrugated stainless steel or Monel core covered by braided layers of stainless steel for high pressure resistance. Stainless steel or Monel end fittings are welded on and an exterior anti-kink stainless steel armor casing can be added. Tethering is also an option. When zero-effusion is imperative, optional mass spectrometer helium leak testing using customer specifications can be performed.

Each assembly is pressure tested to 150% of the rated working pressure using nitrogen under water. Optional mass spectrometer helium leak testing using customer specifications can also be performed. All assemblies are cleaned, capped, and packaged in clear bags in accordance with CGA G-4.1. CGA nuts and nipples, check valve nipples, and hand-tights can be installed also. Check our our CGA Nuts & Nipples web page for more details. Fittings are male or female NPT, but stainless steel compression tube ends or face seal ends can be permanently welded to the assembly. All-metallic assemblies are permanently marked with manufacturer, pressure rating, and date of manufacture, meeting CGA requirements.

Style UFHP22 3850 PSIG Stainless Steel Core Pigtails – Specialty Gas Hose

Stainless Steel Pigtail

Ultraflex HP pigtails are constructed with a helical close-corrugation 316 stainless steel core, ensuring high-purity, zero effusion, and excellent flexibility. Two stainless steel braids provide extremely high working pressure—3850 PSI MAWP with a 4:1 safety factor. Welded end connections are constructed using 316 stainless steel. Optional stainless steel armor is flexible and streamline, enhancing kink resistance, and braid protection. Each UFHP22 assembly is permanently marked with manufacturer, pressure rating, and date of manufacture– meeting CGA requirements, providing easy identification, and promoting safety. Sometimes know as “specialty gas hose”, these pigtails are ideal for small molecule gases due to their zero-effusion construction.

molecule gases such as helium and hydrogen that may effuse through the walls of other types of pigtails. The inherent properties of 316 stainless steel also are ideal for specialty gas applications. Consider UFHP22 for permanent on-site installations in connection to distribution and switch-over manifolds*. Each pigtail assembly is pressure tested at 150% of the rated working pressure using nitrogen under water. Optional testing can include mass spectrometer helium leak tests using customer specifications.

End fitting options are male NPT, female NPT, compression tube, or face seal (male or female). Assemblies can be cleaned for oxygen service to meet CGA specification G-4.1. Cleaned pigtails will be capped and packaged in clear bags with “oxygen clean” certification cards. CGA nuts, nipples, check-valve nipples, hand-tight nuts, elbows, or distance pieces may be specified to be installed on the assemblies.

* Note: Due to the damaging effects of high velocity gases on the corrugated innercore, metallic core hose in not recommended for cylinder filling applications.

Style SF4500 4500 PSIG Stainless Steel Core Pigtails – Specialty Gas Hose

specialty gas hose

For extreme pressure service when a metallic pigtail is required. Style SF4500 all-stainless steel, all-welded hoses are a zero permeation product, ideal for specialty/high purity gases. the 4500 PSIG rating is the highest in the industry for metal hose pigtails. Optional stainless steel armor casing provides additional life, safety, and protection. Each assembly is tested to 1-1/2 times MAWP. Branded with part number, manufacturer, size, MAWP, and month/year.

Sometimes called a specialty gas hose, these pigtails are ideal for small molecule gases such as helium and hydrogen that may effuse through the walls of other types of pigtails.

The inherent properties of 316 stainless steel also are ideal for specialty gas applications. Consider SF4500 for permanent on-site in connection to distribution and switch-over manifolds*. Each pigtail assembly is pressure tested at 150% of the rated working pressure using nitrogen under water.
